Kathy Swan is an assistant professor of Social Studies Education at the University of Kentucky. A former social studies teacher (economics too!), she researches ways of effectively integrating technology into the K-12 social studies classroom. She is the recipient of the National Technology Leadership Award in Social Studies Education co-sponsored by the College and University Faculty Assembly (CUFA) and the Society of Technology and Teacher Education (SITE) in 2005, 2007 and 2008. Her research has appeared in the International Journal of Social Education, Social Education, The Social Studies and Contemporary Issues in Technology and Teacher Education and is the co-creator of the Historical Scene Investigation Project and the Digital Directors Guild.

Mark Hofer is an assistant professor of educational technology in the School of Education at the College of William & Mary. He is a former high school social studies teacher and focuses his research and project work on the effective integration of technology in K-12 classrooms. He is the recipient of the National Technology Leadership Award in Social Studies Education co-sponsored by the College and University Faculty Assembly (CUFA) and the Society of Technology and Teacher Education (SITE) in 2005 and 2007. He publishes and presents his work regularly in both scholarly and practitioner-oriented journals. He is the co-creator of the Historical Scene Investigation Project and the Digital Directors Guild.

Gerry Swan is an assistant professor of Instructional Technology and STEM Education. He is a member of the Curriculum and Instruction Department in the College of Education and has a secondary appointment in Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Swan's interests include the use of interactive media with instruction and computer managed instruction and research. His research looks at how online environments can be used in data collection and presentation to facilitate the use of best practices in educational environments. Data-Driven Decision Making, Knowledge Management and Continuous Improvement are increasingly popular ideas in education, but the tools and practices to make it a reality are far behind. Through the development and testing of online environments, Gerry seeks to bring the potential to the classroom.

Joan Mazur is an associate professor in the Instructional Systems Design program. Dr. Mazur's current research interests focus on the design and use of emergent interactive media and visualization environments to support teaching, learning, curriculum design and teacher development in a variety of instructional contexts. She currently has grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and collaborates with the departments of computer science, engineering and preventive medicine and on numerous technology based projects .
